About Us: Your Specialist Firm for Garden and Landscape Construction in NRW
Gala Bau Kurt is an owner-run landscaping firm (GaLaBau-Betrieb) from the Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis. We plan, build and maintain gardens and outdoor spaces in Düsseldorf, Wuppertal, Schwelm, Ennepetal, Meerbusch, Cologne and throughout North Rhine-Westphalia – with one fixed contact person and advice in German, Turkish and English.
An owner-run specialist firm from the Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis
Our yard sits in the Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis, between Schwelm and Ennepetal – right where the Bergisches Land begins. That shapes the way we work: plots here are rarely level, the soil is shallow and stony, and with roughly 1,000 to 1,200 millimetres of rainfall a year it is the drainage that decides whether a patio lasts ten years or two. Wuppertal is practically on our doorstep, and we reach Düsseldorf, Meerbusch and Cologne via the A1, A46 and A43 in about 45 to 70 minutes. So we work regularly in both of North Rhine-Westphalia's worlds: on the slopes of Cronenberg, Ronsdorf, Milspe and Linderhausen just as much as on the sandy, loamy lower-terrace soils of Oberkassel, Büderich, Rodenkirchen and Marienburg.
Gala Bau Kurt is a garden and landscape construction firm (Garten- und Landschaftsbau) in the classic sense: your gardener and landscaper in one, building with our hands and with machinery rather than at a drawing board. Our work covers garden maintenance and hedge trimming, garden design and planning, paving and pathways, patio construction, fencing and privacy screens, lawns and turf, tree felling and tree care, earthworks with a mini digger, walls built from dry stone, L-shaped concrete elements and gabions, garden irrigation, drainage and rainwater management as well as winter service, property and grounds maintenance. Because we carry out these trades ourselves, we also plan them together: if you have a patio built by us, the falls, the drainage channel, the edge restraint and the transition to the lawn are all thought through at the same time – instead of you having to coordinate three firms that end up blaming one another.
Owner-run does not simply mean that somebody once registered a business. It means that the same person comes to the free on-site visit, takes the measurements, prices the quote and later stands on site while the work is being done. There is no call centre, no rotating contacts and no chain of subcontractors in which nobody is responsible in the end. If you would like to change something while the work is under way, or you simply have a question, you speak to the person who can also make the decision. That is the real advantage of a small specialist firm – and the reason we have deliberately stayed small.
Advice, quotations and day-to-day agreements on site are all possible in German, Turkish and English. With subjects such as the tree protection bylaw (Baumschutzsatzung), boundary distances, sub-base build-up or warranty it comes down to details, and those are things most people would rather settle in their own language than leave to a family member to interpret. That applies to Turkish-speaking customers in Wuppertal, Düsseldorf, Cologne and the Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis just as much as to English-speaking newcomers who have taken on a house with a garden in Düsseldorf or Meerbusch. English-speaking consultation is a normal part of our service, and the assessment stays the same in every language: what makes sense, what it costs and what we would advise against.
Why Gala Bau Kurt?
-
Craftsmanship you never get to see
The quality of a surface is decided beneath the surface: a load-bearing crushed-stone sub-base compacted in layers, a clean fall away from the house, frost-free foundations for fences and walls. That is exactly where we do not cut corners – even though nobody ever photographs it.
-
An honest assessment instead of a sales pitch
If your old patio only needs its joints redoing, we say so. If new turf will drown next winter without drainage, we say that too. We do not sell you work your property does not need.
-
Costings you can follow
Materials, labour, machinery, waste disposal and – where necessary – permit fees appear as separate items in the quote. Changes are discussed with you in advance and put in writing, rather than simply turning up on the final invoice.
-
Time slots we commit to
With the quote you receive a realistic schedule and know when we start and how long we stay. If persistent rain or frost pushes the work back, we get in touch ourselves – we never leave anyone waiting with a dug-up front garden.
-
Advice in three languages
German, Turkish and English – at the site visit, in the quote and on site. Simply write to us in whichever language you feel comfortable with, ideally by WhatsApp on +49 174 6150689.

Rooted in the region
We know the difference between a slate slope in Ennepetal and sandy soil in Meerbusch, we know the tree protection bylaws of the individual towns, and we know the trade suppliers and quarries of the area. That saves journeys, time and the wrong materials.
How we work: from your first message to handover
The quickest route to a price you can rely on is a look at the plot. That is why we do not guess over the phone but come out to you: the site visit is free and without obligation, even if you decide to go with another firm afterwards. On site we measure up, check the subsoil, the falls, the access and the space for a skip or a digger, and clarify whether any permits are needed – under your town's tree protection bylaw, for instance, or because a replacement planting will be required.
You then receive a fixed-price quote in plain English, with no jargon and no lump-sum catch-all items. While the work is going on we protect the lawn, the paving and the neighbouring property, keep materials and spoil together and tidy up every evening. Green waste, spoil, rubble and old fencing go with us and are disposed of properly; we hand the area back swept clean. At the end we walk over the result together – and where something has been newly laid we tell you what matters in the first few weeks, from rolling in new turf to topping up the sand in freshly jointed paving.
This is how a project usually runs with us:
- Enquiry by phone, WhatsApp or e-mail – ideally with a few photos and the rough measurements
- A reply as a rule within 24 hours, together with a suggested date for the free on-site visit
- Measuring up, advice on materials and checks on permits and buried services on site
- A fixed-price quote with clearly listed items and a realistic schedule
- Execution with our own machinery, protected neighbouring surfaces and a daily site clean-up
- Handover, waste disposal included, aftercare notes and, if you wish, a maintenance contract (Pflegevertrag) for afterwards
For private customers, homeowners' associations and commercial clients
A large part of our work is private gardens: the terraced-house garden in Wuppertal-Langerfeld, the sloping garden in Schwelm, the new driveway in Ennepetal, the porcelain stoneware patio in Düsseldorf-Benrath, the privacy screen in Meerbusch-Osterath or the complete new garden after an extension in the Cologne district of Rodenkirchen. What counts here is that the work gets done while you are at the office, that nobody trips over tools in the evening and that everything fits together at the end.
For property managers (Hausverwaltungen), homeowners' associations (Eigentümergemeinschaften) and commercial businesses we work to a different rhythm: fixed maintenance intervals for outdoor areas, hedge trimming before the bird nesting season protected by the Federal Nature Conservation Act (Bundesnaturschutzgesetz), leaf clearance in autumn, a winter service with documented call-outs to satisfy the legal duty to clear and grit (Räum- und Streupflicht), plus property and grounds maintenance. One contract, one contact, one invoice – and, whenever it is needed, the individual job on top: repairing a driveway that has sunk, a new fence around the bin store or a tree inspection before the storm season.
For private households it is worth taking a look at § 35a of the German Income Tax Act (§ 35a EStG): 20 per cent of the labour costs can be deducted directly from your tax bill – up to €4,000 a year for household-related services (haushaltsnahe Dienstleistungen) such as garden maintenance, hedge trimming or winter service, and up to €1,200 a year for tradesman services (Handwerkerleistungen) such as paving, patio construction, fencing or walls. We show the labour costs separately on every invoice, and payment is made by bank transfer so that your evidence for the tax office is watertight.
Machinery, materials and partner firms
We work with our own machinery and our own tools: a mini digger for excavation, levelling and clearance, a vibrating plate and rammer for building up the sub-base in layers, a cut-off saw and stone saw for clean cuts to size, chainsaws, hedge trimmers and mowers for maintenance work, a stump grinder for root stocks, and a tipper and trailers so that spoil and green waste leave your property straight away. Specialist kit that is only needed occasionally – a cherry picker, say, or a larger excavator – we hire in for the particular project and show transparently in the quote.
For materials we rely on regional trade suppliers, builders' merchants and quarries rather than DIY-store clearance lines. In practice that means frost-resistant concrete blocks and natural stone for paving and patios, 2 cm porcelain stoneware for the low-maintenance option, crushed stone and grit in defined gradings for the base course and the bedding layer, hot-dip galvanised and powder-coated twin-wire mesh panels for fences, drainage pipes, geotextile and soakaway crates for rainwater, and trees, shrubs and perennials in nursery quality. You see samples before we order anything – paving colours look quite different in a brochure than they do in your own yard.
- Our own machinery for earthworks, compaction, maintenance and haulage
- Specialist kit hired in per project and shown openly in the quote
- Materials from regional trade suppliers, with samples before ordering
- Partner firms only where they are genuinely needed on technical grounds – an electrician for the 230 V connection of your garden lighting, for example
